Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Warehouse and Distribution, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Dispatcher is responsible for: receiving, recording and charging out all requests for deliveries or pickups of supplies, equipment, courier service, specimens, x-rays, requisitions, etc., and dispatching porters, messengers and supply attendants to respond to these calls; problem-solving relating to immediate issues; performing receptionist and clerical duties; initiating and updating unit orders; compiling statistics; assigning staff; and performing other performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

Six (6) months related office experience, plus; Six (6) months experience in an area where medical/surgical supplies are handled.

OR

Six (6) months experience in the Messenger classification.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Grade 12, or recognized equivalent.

Qualifications And Skills

Data entry speed: 65 numerical keystrokes per minute. Ability to work in a Windows operating environment. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Good interpersonal communication skills. Legible handwriting. Polite and courteous telephone manner. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work with accuracy. Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.
